DAAD International Scholarship programmes for artists comprises programs such as Artists-in-Berlin. The DAAD supports over 100,000 German and international students’ and researchers around the globe each year – making it the world’s largest funding organization of its kind.
They also promote internationalization efforts at German universities, help developing countries build their own systems of higher education, and support German Studies and German language programmes abroad.
Based on an agreement between CONARE and the DAAD, university lecturers from the four universities Universidad de Costa Rica, Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional and Universidad Estatal a Distancia receive funding to obtain further qualifications in Germany with scholarships for Masters and doctoral degrees.

Scholarship duration: 24 to 48 months
The scholarship payment depends on the applicant’s academic qualifications. It is usually €650.00 (from February 2018: €750.00) for undergraduate students, €750.00 (from September 2018: €850.00) for graduate scholarship holders and €1,000.00 (from September 2018: €1,200.00) for doctoral candidates and postdoc scholarship holders).
The payments for university teachers are €2,000.00 for assistants, assistant professors, and lecturers, €2,150.00 for professors (as of August 2015).
